During my internship at Thonik, I designed a poster for the exhibition ART. Grondwet, which presents ten articles from the Dutch Constitution through the work of more than 20 designers. The exhibition aims to make fundamental rights from the Dutch Constitution, such as freedom of expression and the right to vote, visible and to encourage people to reflect on their rights.

The poster focuses on Article 3, which states that all Dutch citizens are equally eligible for public service positions. This article emphasizes that everyone with Dutch nationality has equal opportunities in civil service roles, without discrimination based on characteristics other than the legal requirements.

The number ‘3’ forms the central element of my composition. I constructed the typography using horizontal bars that follow the shape of the number. For the color palette, I chose a subtle gradient of skin tones, like a rainbow representing diversity and inclusivity. This not only gives the design depth but also references the diversity within society. The combination of the “rainbow of skin tones” and the number emphasizes that equal eligibility is a fundamental principle in the Constitution. At the same time, the bars also reflect elements of Thonik’s visual identity.
